lingkungan yang semakin sering terjadi akibat perubahan iklim, deforestasi, dan urbanisasi. Namun, di tengah krisis ini, bioteknologi muncul sebagai salah satu solusi inovatif yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mitigasi banjir. Artikel ini akan mengulas peran bioteknologi dalam mengatasi banjir melalui pendekatan berbasis biologi, mulai dari rekayasa tanaman hingga teknologi mikroba.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>1. Fitoremediasi: Menggunakan Tanaman sebagai &#8220;Bio-Sponge&#8221;<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fitoremediasi memanfaatkan kemampuan tanaman untuk menyerap, mengurai, atau mengikat polutan dan air berlebih. Tanaman dengan sistem perakaran dalam seperti dedalu<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(<i>Salix<\/i>) dan akar wangi<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<i>Vetiveria zizanioides<\/i>) mampu menstabilkan tanah, meningkatkan infiltrasi air, dan mengurangi limpasan permukaan yang memicu banjir (Prasad, 2021). Tanaman ini juga berperan sebagai &#8220;bio-sponge&#8221; yang menyerap air hujan melalui proses transpirasi. Studi oleh EPA (2020) menunjukkan bahwa lahan dengan vegetasi fitoremediasi dapat mengurangi volume limpasan air hingga 40% dibandingkan lahan gundul.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>2. Rekayasa Genetik untuk Tanaman Tahan Genangan<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bioteknologi modern memungkinkan rekayasa genetik tanaman untuk meningkatkan ketahanan terhadap genangan (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">waterlogging<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Gen seperti <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sub1A<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pada padi telah diintroduksi ke varietas lokal untuk mempertahankan produktivitas meski terendam air (Xu et al., 2006). Tanaman transgenik ini tidak hanya menjaga ketahanan pangan, tetapi juga mengurangi erosi tanah selama banjir. Selain itu, penelitian terbaru mengembangkan tanaman dengan sistem akar lebih padat dan cepat tumbuh menggunakan teknik CRISPR-Cas9, yang mampu memperkuat struktur tanah (Zhang et al., 2022).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>3. Bioengineering dengan Mikroba Penguat Tanah<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teknologi mikroba seperti <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microbial-Induced Calcite Precipitation<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MICP) menggunakan bakteri (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sporosarcina pasteurii<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) untuk memproduksi kalsit yang kemudian mengikat partikel tanah, meningkatkan stabilitas, dan mengurangi erosi (Dejong et al., 2010). Aplikasi MICP pada tanggul atau lereng rawan longsor dapat mencegah keruntuhan struktur selama banjir. Selain itu, mikoriza\u2014simbiosis antara jamur dan akar tanaman\u2014meningkatkan kapasitas tanah, menahan air dan nutrisi, serta mengurangi risiko banjir bandang (Rillig et al., 2019).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>4. Restorasi Ekosistem dengan Bioteknologi<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restorasi ekosistem alami seperti rawa dan hutan bakau (mangrove) merupakan pertahanan utama melawan banjir. Bioteknologi mendukung upaya ini melalui teknik kultur jaringan<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> untuk memperbanyak spesies kunci seperti bakau (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i>Rhizophora<\/i>) secara massal. Selain itu, rekayasa mikroba probiotik untuk dekontaminasi air banjir (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pseudomonas putida<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) membantu memulihkan kualitas ekosistem pascabanjir (Ramsar Convention, 2018).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>5. Tantangan dan Pertimbangan Etis<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meski menjanjikan, aplikasi bioteknologi dalam mitigasi banjir tidak lepas dari tantangan. Rekayasa genetik tanaman dan mikroba memicu kekhawatiran akan dampak jangka panjang terhadap keanekaragaman hayati. Selain itu, efektivitas teknik seperti MICP masih terbatas pada skala laboratorium dan memerlukan validasi lapangan lebih lanjut (Phillips et al., 2021).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Kesimpulan<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bioteknologi menawarkan solusi multifaset untuk mitigasi banjir, mulai dari fitoremediasi hingga rekayasa ekosistem. Namun, keberhasilannya bergantung pada integrasi dengan kebijakan lingkungan, riset berkelanjutan, dan kesadaran publik.
